TACA Highland Rim Chapter September 2005 Newsletter & Minutes
Highland Rim Officers for 2005:
President: Tim Hintz
Vice-President: John Lucas
Treasurer: Noreen Grisolano
Secretary: Deborah Sam
Board Reps: Jeanne Brady, Tim Hintz, Adele Seitzinger, and Virginia Walker.
September 16, 2005 Meeting Minutes:
The Chapter met at Merritt Ireland 's new gallery and studio. In attendance were: Jeanne Brady, Susan DeMay, Andrzej Gutek, Rob Harvey, Tim Hintz, Merritt Ireland , Nancy and Ralph Jansen, Susan and William Kooienga, Claudia Lee, John Lucas, Breanna Rockstad-Kincaid, Deborah Sam, Adele and Sarah Seitzinger, Carol Ventura, and Mike Whiteman.
Treasurer's Report: Noreen reported via eMail that the Chapter made $1,000 on Fall Funfest and paid Mike half ($500). The balance is now $1,673.38 .
TACA Spring Fair Chapter Booth follow up discussion: $30-$40 of the missing funds was covered by the treasury, and the consensus was that at the last meeting it was decided that since the group booth was available for members to gain experience, all sellers needed to be present during the fair.
Merritt gave a report on the successful use of the funds the chapter donated to the Pacesetters.
TACA Website Update: The site will debut at the Fall Fair and there will be a 15% discount (of the $50 fee) for members that sign up for a gallery spot before the Chattanooga Fair (Oct. 1-2). Tim also talked about the Retail Gallery/Exhibition Space. The fund raising committee will begin a major donor campaign in October.
Mike gave a report on the successful and fun Fall Fun Fest. Next year, it will be promoted as a day-and-a-half event. A chapter sign and flyers to join TACA were suggested for the chapter group booth. The chapter booth also did well.
Tim followed through on his idea for Demo days at the Smithville Farmers Market on the Square in June, and September. He even got himself front page coverage for September. Please feel free to join him (usually on the east side) in demonstrating your specialty. The only restrictions from the Market folks are that everyone clean up after him/herself and that the demo area not become a flea market.
(Touring?) Group exhibitions: rapid progress on this front-Woodbury (William), Cumberland University (Susan), and potentially Sewanee Saint-Andrews (Rob). Please get your slides and artist statements to the appropriate people ASAP. Is anyone willing to pursue the Tullahome Museum of Art?
Winter Social Event: Tim has volunteered to book a band and find a location for this Tennessee Craft Artist community builder. The group voted to allocate him $750.
